"Everyone is loved by someone."
-- Alison Kear of Covenant House speaking at a vigil to honor those who died on the streets of Anchorage in 2024.
They were our neighbors, our friends, our family members. At First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, 50 names were read off and a candle was lit for each. Thank you to Anchorage's faith community for helping us honor and remember these individuals.

🙏In appreciation of volunteers💙
Thank you to Arika, one of our most dedicated volunteers and among 28 people honored this week at a volunteer appreciation luncheon.
Arika shared that she volunteers with ACEH because she recognizes "the importance of being active in the community and taking care of each other when we can." She notes that this is a group project and says she considers it a privilege to do her part.
We couldn't do what we do in street outreach without our community of helpers! Every other Monday evening, Arika and other volunteers gather at our office to fill Ziplocs with supplies and snacks that outreach teams then distribute to those sleeping outdoors.

Eight AmeriCorps young people dedicated a year of their lives to provide service to Alaska only for their time to come to an abrupt end.
Alaska was lucky to have them. They did tough work with grace and kindness. They walked across frozen paths to connect with our unsheltered neighbors living in camps, helped people apply for housing, made connections and friendships and became a part of our ACEH team.
***People got housed because of them.***
We will miss them terribly.

We will join Anchorage's faith community on Saturday, April 19, for a vigil to honor and remember those who died unsheltered on our streets in 2024. Please spread the word and take part. Community members, unhoused neighbors, healthcare providers, social service providers, advocacy groups and more are welcome.
Together, let's help our community build its strongest system to address homelessness. So that no one dies while sleeping on the streets.

Alaska has one of the highest rates of homelessness in the country. Sen. Elvi Gray-Jackson says a bill of rights "could remove barriers to essential rights and resources ... such as medical care, safe living conditions, and direct access to job opportunities."

💥Hello Alaskans! Here's your chance for help with housing!💥
The Alaska Housing Finance Corp. has opened up applications for Housing Choice vouchers that can be used in Anchorage. Deadline: April 30, 1 p.m. Don't delay! https://www.ahfc.us/
These vouchers allow those eligible to find a unit in the private market, and AHFC pays a portion of the rent directly to the landlord. This is a rare opportunity that only happens every couple of years. Everyone who qualifies will get on the waiting list and all who apply by the deadline will have an equal chance at being at or near the top of the list. (Income cutoff is 50% of the area median, or $45,150 for one person; $64,500 for a family of four.) 👀
🏡 Our team can help our unhoused neighbors apply. AHFC also offers help.
This could be your chance to step into a new-to-you home!

One great aspect of our two-day summit — Anchorage's Coordinated Response to Homelessness — was the venue! Thank you to @southcentralfoundation for Nuka Learning and Wellness Center. This beautiful space brought the outside in and set the stage for a phenomenal event.

ACEH is thankful for partners like Downtown Hope Center for collaborating to prepare and deliver meals to those experiencing unsheltered homelessness.
During high fire danger conditions, meal delivery helps minimize the risk of cooking fires. Thank you @DSKHopeCenter! 💞
