Point-in-Time (PIT) and Housing Inventory Count (HIC)

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development requires the collection of Point-in-Time (PIT) and Housing Inventory Count (HIC) data for one night each year to assist in measuring the extent of homelessness within Alaska. This data is later used to advocate for federal and state funding to assist Alaska’s homeless. In addition, this data has been a useful tool for housing planning activities in local communities.

Point-in-Time Count 2021

Outreach will conduct the annual Unsheltered PIT Count the week of January 25 as required by HUD with adjustments for COVID-19.

This is done annually during the last 10 days of January to get a count of the exact amount of individuals experiencing homelessness on a given night each year. A team of outreach workers will be connecting with unsheltered individuals.  This process has been modified this year in response to COVID-19.
