Across the nation, counts are underway

Shontale Johnson, VA Homeless Care Coordinator, talks with a man sheltering in his vehicle in yesterday's single-digit weather. She intends to follow up on the possibility of housing

If Anchorage's big snow and deep freeze is challenging for you, think what it's like for those who are unhoused. This week, our outreach teams are braving the cold to ensure no one is overlooked in the annual Point-in-Time Homelessness Count.

This illuminates the number of individuals who slept outside or in a shelter on a single night, Jan. 29. It's more than numbers; it's about understanding the needs of our community and ensuring everyone has the chance for warmth and safety.

We are so grateful that our Next Step project has already helped almost three dozen of our neighbors get housing, opening up a like number of spots in shelter.

Across the nation, similar counts are underway, sparking a collective quest for solutions and support.

Want to delve deeper? Head to our Point-in-Time Count page to learn about the impact of the Point-in-Time Count and see how you can be part of the change.

Together, we can transform awareness into action. Your support counts.
